Men’s Gift Guide

Is it just me or are most men really difficult to buy gifts for?  Maybe it’s the men in my life but boy can it be tough!   Also, does anyone else have a very difficult significant other to buy gifts for?    The guy literally wants nothing!  Ok, it’s not that bad but if he seriously tells me that he wants gray sweatpants one more year in a row i’m going to scream…I mean how many pairs of gray sweatpants can one have?   I have listed below some of my go to favorite gift ideas for the men in your life.  I hope these will help you out so you don’t have to buy another pair of “gray sweatpants’!

Styling This Bump…

Winter is coming here in New Jersey and that means dressing in layers.  As my bump grows bigger and bigger and my body changes more and more I tend to get a bit more self conscious.  I know growing a baby is a beautiful process but I am human and can’t help but miss my pre pregnancy body from time to time.  Especially when it comes to dressing cute oh and when I drop something because bending over is a pain these days!  I like to try to keep my style throughout pregnancy but I know there are certain things that I can’t or shouldn’t wear!    I am looking for more comfortable stylish sweaters and this cable knit sweater is on point.  It’s so warm and cozy.  It is maternity but I love it because I know I’ll be able to wear it after the baby is born.  Most likely as a sweater dress 🙂  so I am getting two looks out of it!  One of the simplest outfit combinations this season is pairing a comfy sweater with some over the knee boots.  The faux fur vest adds the perfect chic look to your outfit while keeping you warm.  This vest is one of my new favorite pieces because it’s really beautifully made and is under $40.00!  You can’t beat that!  I love accessorizing with fun jewelry and these bohobetty bracelets are just that.    This outfit will really take you from day to night.   Simply switch up your bigger bag for a clutch and you are ready for the evening.  If you are looking for a comfortable stylish outfit to try out this is it!  I have linked my outfit details below as well as some of my current favorites. Simply click the images  ❤

Women’s Gift Guide

Hey Everyone!  The holiday’s are approaching which means…shopping!  and the stress of holiday gift shopping!  What do I get so and so?  Will she like it? Maybe I’ll just get a gift card.  Listen I have nothing against gift cards (especially if they are to Starbucks)  but I think there is something so personal about giving and opening a gift. I’m listing a few of my favorites that I hope will help you with your holiday shopping this year.

Clarisonic Mia 2

This little machine is the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion.  You will never know how much excess dirt you have on your face until you use a clarisonic.  Talk about a deep clean.  There are many different brush heads to choose from which allows you for an even  deeper clean.  I use the sensitive brush head and it still gives me a great clean.  I use mine every night and love it!  Especially after a night out when I tend to wear more make-up.  This is one of my all time go to gifts that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Modern Friction Face Scrub

Unfortunately I am not able to get facial’s as much as I like.  I have a very strict “bed time beauty regime” as my husband calls it.  You should exfoliate your facial skin about 2-3 times per week and this non invasive scrub does the trick.  When I became pregnant with my first son I did a ton of research on what products were safe to use.  I came across Origins and never looked back.

Gold Initial Mug

I love this mug and I love anything with my initial.  The limited edition gold adds the perfect sparkle for the holiday season.

Blanket Scarf

An absolute wardrobe must! This scarf is warm, stylish and set a great price point!

I hate walking barefoot but can’t exactly run after two toddlers in big fluffy slippers.  These UGG slippers are comfortable and movable.

Saddle Bag

I love this bag, it’s so sleek and surprisingly roomy for a smaller bag.  You can wear it as a cross body or shoulder bag.  The gold embellishment adds the perfect touch..  It also comes in three great colors.

Hunter Rain Boots

Yet another wardrobe essential.  These stylish boots are not only great in the rain but also the snow.  They slip on and off super easily, no tedious laces here!

Hello Day Planner

I just discovered this planner and I’m so excited to use it.  I’m one of those people who prefers to write things down on paper.  I love this planner, it has inspirational quotes, a daily fitness log and water intake reminder and even has you list daily goals.  Talk about starting off the New Year on the right note!

Voluspa Japonica Embossed Votive Gift Set

The perfect gift for the candle lover.  This gift set offers 6 votive candles in delectable scents.

Faux Fur Vest

Um every woman should own a faux fur vest.  They are so versatile and really make an outfit pop.  This vest is perfect! It’s beautiful and affordable.

Beauty & The Beast DVD

I mean what girl doesn’t want to curl up on the couch with some hot chocolate or wine 😉 and relive a bit of their childhood?!

Sonicare Electric Toothbrush

I’m a stickler for oral hygiene and this toothbrush has all the bells and whistles.  Want to feel like you just left the dentist after a cleaning? Get this brush…

OTK Boots

They may be pricey but are definitely worth the investment.  They are so versatile you can wear them with almost anything. They are also timeless.

Knot Bracelet

I’m very much into layering bracelets this year and I just love the minimalism and delicate look of this knot bracelet.

The Perfect Cuff Bracelet

I just discovered Boho Betty and I absolutely love their stuff! Their bracelets are so fun and stylish.  This is a sure gift anyone will love! Even better use code ASHLI20 for 20% off your entire purchase!!

 Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Camera

Perfect for the photo enthusiast! Ok ok, this is currently what I am hoping for from Santa this year but this camera is fantastic.  I was looking for a camera that I could bring everywhere with me but didn’t require a huge camera bag.  My best friend and sometimes photographer 😉 uses this camera and the images come out amazing.  This little guy definitely packs a powerful punch.  It’s a compact camera that gives you the quality of a bigger sized professional camera.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lip Stick in Fiery

I have found the perfect universal red lipstick for everyone!  This red is flattering on every skin tone and literally “stays all day”.

There you guys have it! I hope these products give you some inspiration on gift giving this holiday season!  and remember if all else fails…there’s always a Starbucks gift card ❤

Stay Warm With Butternut Squash Soup

Baby it’s getting cold outside and I have the perfect remedy!  Butternut squash soup, yummy!  We have soup and grilled cheese night (almost) every Monday or Tuesday in our house during the fall and winter months.  I like to try to eat a little lighter on a these days since we have usually indulged on the weekend and soup is the perfect meal!   I will pretty much try any food.  My husband on the other hand is one of the pickiest eaters I have ever met.  Once we began dating and I started cooking for him I knew I needed to up my game to make him explore his palette.  This also made me very good at hiding vegetables in dishes. He was actually preparing me for feeding our future children!

I love this recipe because it’s simple, fast and super healthy.  I love making soups in a slow cooker.  They just taste better in my opinion.  This recipe can be adapted for the stovetop as well.

Butternut Squash Soup:

1-15lbs Butternut Squash (I get the pre cut cubes in the produce section)

2 Tomatoes (I use on the vine)

5 Garlic Cloves

1 Pear

2 Medium Leeks

4 Cups Veggie Stock (I like Pacific Organic)

Olive Oil to coat veggies

Salt, Pepper and Garlic Powder (to taste)

Half & Half (I like Horizon Organic)

Parmesan Cheese (for garnish)

Chop all of the vegetables sans the garlic you can just leave the cloves whole. Place in the slow cooker. Coat the veggies with olive oil add the salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste and give a toss. Pour in the veggie broth.  The broth should cover the vegetables.  I cooked on LOW for 6 hours or you can do HIGH for about 4 hours. You basically want the veggies soft. Once veggies are soft blend them together with a hand blender (I used a Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender) If you don’t have one you can blend in a regular blender then return them to the slow cooker. Add the half and half. Judge based on consistency and coloring you want. I think I used about half a pint container. Season with more spices if you like and cook for a little longer. Serve with shredded Parmesan cheese.

*If you don’t have a slow cooker you can roast the coated veggies in the oven on 450 until soft, blend in blender with the veggie stock and put the mixture in a pot on the stove. Add the spices and half & half once heated.

Pair this bowl of deliciousness with a grilled cheese, simple salad or a piece of crusty bread.  Enjoy!!

Silver Bells…or Shoes!

“Women who wear black lead colorful lives.” —Neiman Marcus

There’s just something about an all black outfit.  I have been trying to branch out with other colors but I find myself always going back to black or at least neutrals.  I will always love black with a pop of color and in this case these silver loafers fit the bill! They are fun and more importantly comfortable!  You can wear them with almost anything and they are perfect for the holiday season. As my belly grows it’s getting more difficult for me to find clothes that serve my pregnancy fashion golden rule. Stylish yet comfortable. This sweater does the job! I tend to buy clothes that aren’t maternity simply because I want to be able to wear them afterwards.  Don’t get me wrong, I have my fair share or maternity must have’s but that’s a post for different day ; ) I love this sweater even more because it’s under $40.00.  These faux leather leggings are my absolute favorite.  So far I have worn them before, through and after 2 1/2 pregnancies and they have retained their shape perfectly with my fluctuating body.  They are worth every penny in my opinion.   One of my favorite trends right now are choker necklaces and I just love the daintiness of this bow choker.  I wore it the other day with a t-shirt, cardigan and ripped jeans.  It added the perfect delicate touch.  These mirrored sunglasses are so light weight and comfortable.  I always keep them in my purse.  I have linked my outfit details below as well as a few other items that will work with this look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Perfect Thanksgiving Day Breakfast

Looking for a fast, easy breakfast the whole family can enjoy?? Whelp, you got it!

Ok, so I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about making overnight oats but definitely eager to try them since I get to use my mason jars (I have a not so secret obsession with mason jars!).  My reservations….were they going to be soggy, lack flavor or just plan gross?   I’m happy to report these baby’s are delicious, healthy and packed with protein.  Plus they will keep you full until it’s time to start snacking on hors d’oeuvre’s.   Let’s be honest, most if not all of us will be indulging on Thanksgiving so why not start our day off on a healthy note?  These overnight oats are fast to assemble which is key, especially for someone who is hosting.  All you do is gather the majority of the ingredients the night before, let them soak overnight and simply add the toppings in the morning before you eat them. I recommend pairing these bad boys with a large french roast coffee or english breakfast tea oh and we can’t forget a glass of orange juice, YUM.  These overnight oats won’t disappoint!!  See below for two easy recipes ❤

Vanilla Cinnamon Overnight Oats

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/2 – 2/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk (depends on how you like your consistency, I prefer 2/3 cup)

1/3 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1-2 tablespoons of honey based on desired sweetness

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and add to a mason jar or any container with tight fitting lid.  Pop in the fridge and let the magic happen overnight.

In the morning pop that baby the microwave for a minute to take the chill out. Add some nuts and fresh fruit (I like walnuts and strawberries) maybe add an extra swirl of honey if that’s your thing and enjoy!

Peanut Butter Overnight Oats

1/2 cup rolled oats

2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/3 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt

1/2 tablespoon chia seeds

1 tablespoon peanut butter

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and add to a mason jar or any container with a tight fitting lid.  Pop in the fridge and let the magic happen overnight.

In the morning pop that baby the microwave for a minute to take the chill out. Add some fresh fruit (I used blueberries) a dash of cinnamon and enjoy!

These recipes are sure to keep you full until it’s time to feast on your Thanksgiving meal!

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for stopping by!

Making a Statement

Thanksgiving is next week which officially means the holiday season has begun.  I love everything about the holiday’s from the food to the style.  What I love about fashion these days is the individualism so pretty much anything goes.  I must say one constant with my holiday style is a great piece of statement jewelry to make an outfit pop!  Lately I have been very into statement necklaces and a great choker.  The right necklace can transform any outfit from blah to wow! I love pairing a sparkly necklace with another one of this seasons favorites, velvet ❤ Now that says happy holidays! I’ve linked a few of my favorites, including the velvet top and the sparkly gem i’m wearing in the above photo.  Some of these are a great price and are currently 20% or 25% off so act fast because well ’tis the season 😉

Giving Fall the Cold Shoulder

Officially kick starting my blog with one of my favorite fall trends, the cold shoulder sweater. There is something sexy yet sophisticated about the look.  You can dress it up for a night out with a pair of leather leggings and some OTK boots or wear it casual while running errands or heading to brunch with ripped jeans and sneakers (Adidas super stars are my favorite).   Its one of the most versatile pieces of clothing this season. The sweater I’m wearing is perfect for the holidays!  It has sequins and is slouchy (you may not be able to tell due to the nearly 8 month baby bump) so you won’t have any fear indulging in your favorite goodies! Don’t have one? You’re in luck.  I’ve linked some of my favorites below. I’ve also linked the rest of my outfit details. Thanks for stopping by!

My Sweater is Chelsea28, my jeans are older but these are very similar, shoes and my bag.  OH and my sunnies.   Below are some of my favorites!  Just click on them 😉 act fast because some are on sale!
